THE IMPACT OF ENERGY CONSUMPTION ON ECONOMIC GROWTH, URBANIZATION AND FINANCIAL DEVELOPMENTS: CASE OF TURKEY BETWEEN 1969-2015

Year 2019, Volume: 8 Issue: 4, 284 - 296, 05.12.2019

Abstract

In recent years, the relationship between the energy consumptions of countries and various macroeconomic indicators has been increasingly discussed in terms of energy policies. This study aims to analyze the effects of economic growth, urbanization and financial development on the energy consumption in the 1969-2015 period in Turkey. This paper uses the ARDL bound test as the econometric method. The analysis results show that economic growth, urbanization and financial development have a long-term relationship with energy consumption. It has been concluded that urbanization and economic growth have a positive effect on energy consumption in the long-term, while the effect of financial development on energy consumption is incoherent. This study discusses how the results affect the energy policy.

EKONOMİK BÜYÜME, KENTLEŞME VE FİNANSAL GELİŞMENİN ENERJİ TÜKETİMİNE ETKİSİ: 1969-2015 TÜRKİYE ÖRNEĞİ

Year 2019, Volume: 8 Issue: 4, 284 - 296, 05.12.2019
