Abstract
Bu çalışmada Orta Çağ dünyasını uzunca bir süre işgal eden tümeller probleminin ele alınması amaçlanmıştır. Bunun için öncelikle bu problemin üç merkezi Orta Çağ düşünürü düzleminden hareketle genel gerçekliğin varlığını veya yokluğunu ele alarak şeylerin evrensel özlerle ilişkisini açıklama gayretlerini ortaya koymak önemlidir. Her ne kadar bu problemle birlikte Ockhamlı William anılır olsa da erken dönem Skolastik döneme etkilerinden dolayı Peter Abelard’ın incelenmesi ardından da çağdaş dünyanın Orta Çağ felsefesini anlamalarında muazzam etkisi olan Thomas Aquinas ve sonrasında tüm bunların birleştiği veya beraber anıldığı Ockhamlı William’ı incelememiz gerekir. Son olarak ta Orta Çağ Skolastik felsefesindeki tümeller problemini merkeze alan düşüncelerin aslında göründüğü kadar açık olmadığını ve bu yüzden incelenmesinin gerekliliğini söyleyebiliriz.
