Abstract

Japan that is mentioned with natural disasters recently became one of the biggest economy in the world by rapid economical development since the second half of the 20th ceuntury. Most of Japanese studies have also been focused on the development of Japanese society or in another words they deal with 'the bright side of the medallion' until today. However, vital issues of rural which had been the main supporting factor of Japanese development was mostly forgotten and indirectly eluded Japanese researcher's observation and became 'the dark side of the medallion'. On the other side, in order to understand changing of Japanese society from today to tomorrow and analyze current issues of rural, it is needed to understand both tradational Japan and the changing process of Japanese society in the 20th century. Therefore in this paper, quantitative and qualitative changes that Japanese society experienced in the 20th century and the structure of the tradational Japanese (rural) society were summarized and in order to understand the past and the future of the rural, framework of the analysis must be placed on more realistic platform with the objective standarts; in onother words, it was emphasized that a new perspective must be formed.

Abstract

Günümüzde doğal felaketlerle anılır hale gelen Japonya, 20. yy.'ın ikinci yarısından itibaren hızlandırdığı ekonomik kalkınma hamlesiyle günümüzde dünyanın en büyük ekonomilerinden birisi halini almıştır. Bugüne kadarki Japonya çalışmalarının çoğu da, Japon toplumunun gelişen, kalkınan yüzünü, diğer bir deyişle, madalyonun parlak tarafını ele alagelmektedir. Ancak, Japon kalkınmasının temel destek ögesi olan kırsalın hayati sorunları ekonomik kalkınmanın arkaplanında kalmış; dolaylı olarak da Japonya araştırmacılarının gözünden kaçan 'madalyonun karanlık yüzü' olmuştur. Diğer yandan, Japon toplumunun bugünden yarına değişim sürecini, yaşanan sorunların yarınını analiz yapabilmek için genel eğilimin aksine, hem geleneksel Japonya'yı anlamak, hem de 20.yy'da yaşanan değişim sürecini iyi irdelemek gerekmektedir. Bu bağlamda, bu çalışmada Japon kırsalının özellikle 20. yy'da tecrübe ettiği niteliksel ve niceliksel değişim özetlenmeye çalışılmış, kırsalın bugünü ve yarınını okuyabilmek için gerekli analiz çerçevesinin daha gerçekçi ve objektif düzleme oturtulması, diğer bir deyişle yeni bir bakış açısının oluşturulması gerekliliği vurgulanmıştır.
