The Function and Alternation of Higher Education Institutions in Re- Construction of Human Resources

Abstract

In knowledge society, a new global economic structure has been formed as a globalization process and its reflection. In this new structure,the economic power of individuals is measured by their level of knowledge and education,while the competitive power of societies is measured by existing human resources and its quality. This ongoing process has put the reconstructing of human resources on the agenda,on the other hand, it has risen the expectations related to higher education institutions that have primary responsibility in the production and dissemination of “knowledge”. In this study, the changing and increasing diversity of the functions of higher education institutions was examined in terms of globalization process and reconstructing of human resources. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to determine the point of views of post-graduate students and academic staff in these institutions related to the function of higher education institution
