POST-TRAUMATIC GROWTH IN FEBRUARY 2023 EARTHQUAKE SURVIVORS: INVESTIGATION OF SOCIODEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS

Öz

Earthquakes, regardless of location and time, can cause serious psychological, social, and economic effects on people. This effect can continue, not only at the moment of realization but also afterward. In this research, the differences in the post-traumatic growth (PTB) score averages of the earthquake victims of February 6, 2023, were examined according to the variables of gender, educational status, income perception, whether they were trapped under a collapsed rubble or not, and the loss of a relative. A total of 276 people, including 169 women, 103 men, and 4 people who did not specify their gender, participated in the research voluntarily. This research was cross-sectional. Posttraumatic Growth Scale and Sociodemographic Information Form were used as data collection tools. After the data was collected using the paper-pencil method, it was transferred to the SPSS program. The data was analyzed by T-test and One-Way Analysis of Variance. The findings show that TSB differs in gender and variables of whether or not they have been trapped under a landslide. It was determined that the average TSB score of women was higher than that of men, and the average TSB score of those trapped under the collapse was higher than that of those not trapped under the collapse. It was found that TSB score averages did not differ according to the variables of education level, income perception, and whether or not they lost a relative in the earthquake. The findings were discussed based on the relevant literature, and suggestions were made to practitioners and researchers.

ŞUBAT 2023 DEPREMZEDELERİNDE TRAVMA SONRASI BÜYÜME: SOSYODEMOGRAFİK ÖZELLİKLER VE DEPREMDEN ETKİLENMENİN İNCELENMESİ

Öz

Depremler, yeri ve zamanı fark etmeksizin, insanlar üzerinde ciddi psikolojik, sosyal ve ekonomik etkilere neden olabilmektedir. Sadece gerçekleşme anında değil sonrasında da bu etkiler devam edebilmektedir. Bu araştırmada 6 Şubat 2023 depremzedelerinin travma sonrası büyüme (TSB) puan ortalamaları cinsiyet, eğitim durumu, gelir algısı, göçük altında kalıp kalmama ve yakınını kaybetme değişkenlerine göre incelenmiştir. Araştırmaya 169 kadın, 103 erkek ve cinsiyetini belirtmeyen 4 kişi olmak üzere 276 kişi gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Kesitsel nitelikteki bu araştırmada veri toplama araçları olarak Travma Sonrası Büyüme Ölçeği ve Sosyodemografik Bilgi Formu kullanılmıştır. Veriler kağıt-kalem yöntemi kullanılarak toplandıktan sonra SPSS programına aktarılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde t-testi ve Tek Yönlü Varyans Analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın bulguları TSB’nin cinsiyet ve göçük altında kalıp kalmama değişkenleri açısından farklılaştığını göstermektedir. Kadınların TSB puan ortalamalarının erkeklerden, göçük altında kalanların TSB puan ortalamalarının ise göçük altında kalmayanlardan daha yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir. TSB puan ortalamalarının eğitim durumu, gelir algısı ve depremde yakınını kaybedip kaybetmeme değişkenlerine göre farklılaşmadığı bulunmuştur. Bulgular, ilgili literatür temelinde tartışılmış, araştırma sonuçlarından hareketle uygulayıcı ve araştırmacılara önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
