Investigation of Family Functionality with Marital Satisfaction

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between marrital satisfaction and family

functionality of married individuals. The sample were consisted of 202 participants including 135

female (66.83%) and 67 male (33.17%) whose age ranges from 19 to 66 years (X=34.74, SD= 8.94). As

data collection tools, Family Assesment Scale (Bulut, 1990) and Marital Life Scale (Tezer, 1996) were

administered to the participants. Pearson Moment Correlation, Multiple Linear Regression analyses

were conducted to analyse data. According to the results, a significant relationship between marital

satisfaction and family functioning and its sub-dimensions was found. In addition, the results also

indicated that a total of 42% of marital satisfaction was explained by the sub dimensions of family

functioning, which are namely roles, communication, affective responsiveness, affective involvement,

problem solving, and behavior control

AILE İŞLEVSELLIĞININ EVLILIK DOYUMUYLA İNCELENMESI

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı evli bireylerin aile işlevsellikleri ile evlilik doyumları arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir.  Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 19-66 yaş aralığında (=34.74, Ss= 8.94)  olan evli 135 (%66.83) kadın ve 67 (%33.17) erkek olmak üzere 202 kişi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Aile Değerlendirme Ölçeği (Bulut, 1990) ve Evlilik Yaşamı Ölçeği (Tezer, 1996) kullanılmıştır. Veri analizinde Pearson Momentler Çarpımı Korelasyonu ve Çoklu Regresyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, evlilik doyumu ile aile işlevselliği ve alt boyutları arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Ayrıca yapılan analizler sonucunda evlilik doyumunun %42’sinin aile işlevselliği alt boyutları tarafından açıklandığı söylenebilir. Evlilik doyumunu yordayan boyutlar önem sırasıyla roller, iletişim, duygusal tepki verebilme, gereken ilgiyi gösterme, problem çözme ve davranış kontrolü şeklindedir.
