Journal of Social Policy and Social Work Studies is an international refereed journal of Kocaeli University Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Social Work. The journal aims to publish research articles, review articles, and case reports on social policy, social work, and other social science fields related to social work discipline and practices. The journal accepts articles written in Turkish and English languages.

Journal of Social Policy and Social Work Studies is an open-access journal that publishes twice a year, in December and June. Articles to be submitted to the journal for publication should generally be related to social policy, social work, and social work practice areas. Specifically, the issues should be related to other social areas and issues to be addressed from a social work perspective. (For example justice, family, business life, social security, children, education, disability, youth, migration, HIV-AIDS, human rights, unemployment, women, clinical social work, substance addiction, psychiatric social work, medical social work, school social work, health, civil society, social justice, social policy, social welfare, delinquency, elderlies, poverty, and similar issues.)

  • Journal of Social Policy and Social Work Studies publishes studies written in Turkish or English in the fields of social sciences. Studies prepared in Turkish must have an English summary.
  • Authors should not have published or sent their articles to another journal for publication.
  • The relevant editor can make the spelling corrections if it’s necessary. The relevant editor can revise the summary written in a foreign language if deemed necessary.
  • Authors should add not less than 150 words, no more than 200 words, Turkish and English Abstract at the beginning of the study. Besides this, keywords should not exceed 5 words in both languages.
  • The articles should not contain any information that might remind the author such as name, surname, address, etc. Authors should send this information to the editor as a note.
  • Editor will add the information about the author when the article is accepted.
  • All legal responsibility of the articles belongs to their authors.
  • It is recommended that the scientific studies to be submitted should be in the range of a minimum of 4000 and a maximum of 9000 words, including references.
  • Articles to be published in the journal are subjected to iThenticate similarity/plagiarism scanning. If the similarity/plagiarism rate of articles above 10%, it won’t be accepted for publication.

    APA
    Authors must arrange the citations and bibliography of their articles according to APA citation principles.

    STYLE
    Page structure must be 3 from the left, 2 from the right, 2.5 cm from the bottom and top. Authors must use Calibri font in 11 point size and 1.5 line spacing. In tables and graphics, single line spacing should be 10 point size. The author(s) should write their name and surname in capital letters and just below the title, institution, department and e-mail address and ORCID number. When the authors use block quotation, the entire quote should be inside a tab (1,25cm). When the quote is completed, the source should be given (Author, year).

    In APA style, the text is divided into parts. These parts are:

    TITLE is aligned to the left in Turkish all capital letters; The English title is written with only the first letters capitalized. The article must have an abstract not exceeding 150 and maximum 200 words (Turkish and English abstract). The title of the abstract should be written as “ABSTRACT”. In addition, maximum 5 Turkish and 5 English keywords should be included for the article.



    INTERMEDIATE RAILS
    1st level titles: Centered, Bold, Initials Uppercase The Rest Small

    2nd level titles : Left justified, Bold, Initials Uppercase Rest Small

    3rd level titles: A tab inside, Bold. Only the first letter of the title is capitalized, the rest is small, with a period at the end.

    4th level titles: A tab inside, Bold, Italic. Only the first letter of the title is capitalized, the rest is small, with a period at the end.

    5th level titles: One paragraph inside, Italic. Only the first letter of the title is capitalized, the rest is lowercase, with a period at the end.



    CITATION (In the text)

    In the text, authors can make citations in different ways, such as:


    Karacan (1998)… quotes (p. 108).


    … was applied (Baykara Acar and Acar, 2006).


    As the Journal of Social Policy and Social Work, we adopt the principle of writing the names of the authors and the publication year of the work in in-text citations. If the source does not comprise pages (for example, if it is an article taken from the internet), authors should specify the cited part in the paragraph (Author, Year, paragraph X), and the order of the paragraph should be written instead of x.

  • In the scientific articles sent in this journal, national and international standards for editors and authors, especially COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), TUBA, and TÜBİTAK, are taken into consideration. Articles that comply with these standards are published in the journal.
  • All kinds of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using questionnaires, interviews, focus group work, observation, experimentation, interview techniques, and retrospective studies in accordance with the law on the protection of personal data are within the scope of studies that require ethics committee approval. In studies requiring ethics committee approval, information about the permission (name of the board, date, and number) should be included in the method section and also on the first/last page of the article. In case reports, the information that the informed consent form was signed should be included in the article. It is necessary to comply with copyright regulations for the intellectual and artistic works used. If non-compliance with academic and ethical principles is detected during the evaluation process, the evaluation process of the studies is stopped immediately and the study is returned to the author(s) with its revision.
  • Editorial Board, Managing Editor, and Secretary are obliged to ensure the confidentiality and privacy of all studies submitted to the journal until publication. During the process, only the relevant author(s) are informed about the studies.
  • The studies taken into consideration are evaluated with the double-blind referee system. In cases of conflict between referee evaluations or if the referee evaluations are insufficient, the Editorial Board may refer to a third referee opinion.
  • Referees are obliged to comply with ethical principles while making their evaluations. Referees should make their evaluations objective and avoid personal criticism of the author(s) in their evaluations and focus on the subject of assessment.
  • The final decision regarding the studies to be published in the journal belongs to the Editorial Board. The journal is not obliged to justify the authors of unpublished studies.
