EMOTIONAL ABUSE IN ADOLESCENTS

Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the level of emotional abuse in adolescents and the affecting factors. It is a descriptive and cross-sectional study. 431 adolescents were included in the sample. The average scores of the adolescents from the Emostional Abuse Questionnaire (EAQ) are as follows; Verbal abuse 12.716±6.97, over control 9.018±5.131, terrorizing 3.621±2.630, insufficient control 6.375±3.866, emotional rejection 3.533±2.698, over expectation 5.389±2.797, and mean total score 40.656±20.320. The results showed that emotional abuse is related to many factors such as gender, education level, number of siblings, father's occupation, region of residence (province, district, village), income status, family type, penal status of parents, trust status of parents, being abused. The importance of this study is to emphasize the importance of preventing emotional abuse for at-risk adolescents and the need for legal interventions in severe cases. For this reason, it is very important for health professionals to conduct research on child abuse and neglect at the regional or national level and examine its causes.

ADÖLESANLARDA DUYGUSAL İSTİSMAR

Abstract

Çalışmada, ergenlerde duygusal istismar düzeyi ve etkileyen faktörlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel bir çalışmadır. Örnekleme 431 ergen örnekleme dahil edildi. Ergenlerin Duygusal İstismar Ölçeği'nden aldıkları puan ortalamaları şu şekildedir; sözel istismar 12,716±6,97, aşırı kontrol 9,018±5131, terörize etme 3,621±2,630, yetersiz kontrol 6,375±3,866, duygusal reddedilme 3,533±2,698, aşırı beklenti 5,389±2,797 ve ortalama toplam puan 40,656±20,320 olduğu belirlendi. Sonuçlar, duygusal istismarın cinsiyet, eğitim seviyesi, kardeş sayısı, baba mesleği, ikamet bölgesi (il, ilçe, köy), gelir durumu, aile tipi, ebeveynlerin ceza durumu, ebeveynlerin güven durumu, istismar edilme durumu gibi birçok faktörle ilişkili olduğunu gösterdi. Bu çalışmanın önemi, risk altındaki ergenlerde duygusal istismarın önlenmesinin önemini vurgulamak ve ciddi vakalarda hukuki müdahalelere ihtiyaç duyulmasıdır. Bu nedenle, sağlık profesyonellerinin bölgesel veya ulusal düzeyde çocuk istismarı ve ihmaline yönelik araştırmalar yapmaları ve nedenlerini incelemeleri çok önemlidir.
