Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Tourism Education

Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the areas of application of artificial intelligence (AI) in education and to provide insights into its implementation in tourism education. Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED) applications are increasingly being adopted; however, there are diverse perspectives regarding their use in educational and research contexts. To offer a comprehensive overview of AI applications in education, findings obtained from primary sources have been synthesized. The study was conducted through an analysis of scholarly articles on AI and an examination of recent technological developments. The use of AIED enables the integration of educational, psychological, and social data, while also facilitating the faster completion of educational tasks. In tourism education, practical training is essential for providing industry experience but can pose challenges for students in terms of time management. AI applications can support students’ academic success by offering personalized learning and flexible study options. Given the limited research on the use of AI in tourism education, this study is expected to make a valuable contribution to the literature. By providing insights into AI applications in tourism education, it aims to address the existing gap and encourage future research in the field.

Turizm Eğitiminde Yapay Zekâ Uygulamaları

Abstract

Çalışmanın amacı, yapay zekânın (YZ) eğitimde kullanım alanlarını araştırarak, turizm eğitimindeki uygulamalarıyla ilgili bilgilendirme yapmaktır. Eğitimde yapay zekâ (EYZ) uygulamaları gittikçe daha fazla kullanılır hale gelmektedir. Bununla birlikte YZ uygulamalarının eğitim ve araştırma alanında kullanımıyla ilgili farklı görüşler bulunmaktadır. Eğitimdeki yapay zekâ uygulamaları hakkında kapsamlı bir genel bakış sunmak için birincil kaynaklardan elde edilen bulgular sentezlenmiştir. Çalışma, yapay zekâ üzerine yapılan makalelerin analiz edilmesi ve son teknolojik gelişmelerin incelenmesiyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. EYZ kullanılmasıyla eğitimsel, psikolojik ve sosyal bilgi hesaplanabilmekte, eğitim ile ilgili görevler daha hızlı yapılabilmektedir. Turizm eğitiminde, pratik eğitim sektörde deneyim kazandırmak için gerekli olmakla birlikte öğrenciler için zaman yönetiminden ötürü sıkıntıya sebep olabilmektedir. YZ uygulamaları, öğrencilere kişiselleştirilmiş öğrenme ve esnek çalışma seçenekleri sunarak akademik başarılarına destek olabilmektedir. Turizm eğitiminde YZ kullanımı üzerine sınırlı araştırma bulunması nedeniyle çalışmanın literatüre değerli bir katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir. Turizm eğitiminde YZ uygulamaları hakkında bilgi vererek, alandaki boşluğu doldurmayı ve gelecekteki çalışmaları desteklemeyi amaçlamaktadır.
