Doğal
bitki türlerinin süs amaçlı kullanımlarını Mezopotamya, Mısır, Roma, Maya,
İslam, Türk-İslam, Rönesans, Yeni ve Yakın Çağ uygarlıklarının tümünde görmek
mümkündür. Günümüzde de bitki yetiştiriciliği çalışmaları kapsamında Türkiye
florasının sahip olduğu zengin bitki çeşitliliğinin iyi değerlendirilmesi
gerekmektedir. Bu noktada doğal bitkilerin işlevsel ve estetik özellikleri
doğrultusunda süs bitkisi olarak kullanılması ekolojik, estetik, fonksiyonel ve
ekonomik açıdan avantajlar sağlayacaktır. Bu çalışmada, Honaz Dağı ve
çevresinin florasında doğal olarak yetişen otsu bitki türlerin kültüre alınarak
süs bitkisi olarak kullanım olanaklarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Bu
doğrultuda, Honaz Dağı ve çevresinin arazi çalışmalarından toplanan bitki örneğinin
değerlendirilmesi sonucu fonksiyonel ve estetik açıdan önem taşıyan 8 familyaya
ait 12 tür belirlenmiştir. Belirlenen türlerden süs bitkisi olarak kullanım
olanağı gösteren bitkilerin habitusu, ekolojik istekleri yönelik bilgiler ve
süs bitkisi olarak kullanım alanlarına yönelik bilgiler verilmiştir.
It is
possible to see the use of ornamental purposes of natural plant species
throughout Mesopotamia, Egypt, Rome, Maya, Islam, Turkish-Islamic, Renaissance,
New and Near-Age civilizations. Nowadays, within the scope of plant breeding
studies, the rich plant diversity of Turkey should be evaulated well. At this
point, the use of natural plants as ornamental plants in the direction of their
functional and aesthetic characteristics will provide ecological, aesthetic,
functional and economic advantages. In this study, it is aimed to determine the
usage possibilities of herbaceous plant species that grow naturally in Honaz
Mountain and its surroundings by taking the culture as an ornamental plant. In
this direction, 12 species belonging to 8 families, which are important from
the functional and aesthetic point of view, have been determined from the
evaluation of the plant samples collected from the field studies of Honaz
Mountain and its surroundings. The habitus of the plants which are able to use
as ornamental plants from the determined species, information about the
ecological desires and the usage areas as ornamental plants are given.

In 1984, its name was changed to "S.Ü. Fen-Edeb. Fak. Fen Dergisi" and it was published under this name as of the 5th issue.
When the Faculty of Letters and Sciences was separated into the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Letters with the decision of the Council of Ministers numbered 2008/4344 published in the Official Gazette dated 3 December 2008 and numbered 27073, it has been published as "Selcuk University Journal of Science Faculty" since 2009.
