Abstract
After the death of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, a sultanate quarrel broke out between Bayezid II and Cem Sultan. This quarrel was won by Bayezid. But how? In historical sources and articles, this topic is discussed father more for political and military reasons and actors. In different sources, it is possible to find the other heroes, the elements and its reflections in different layers of society for this struggle. There is important information on this subject in sūfī history sources. According to these sources Bayezid and Jamāl-i Halvetī met in Amasya. Jamâl-i Halvetī was a sheikh of the Halvatiyya sect and well-known by the name of Çelebi Khalîfa. Jamāl Halvetī supported Bayezid spiritually. Bayezid wanted Jamāl to help him against the enemies of him. He wanted him to prevent his brother Cem from becoming sultan and to become sultan himself. Jamāl was not willing but complied with his request. Bayezid ascended the throne by his supporting. The story is told so in sūfī history sources. This article will focus on the relations between Bayezid and Jamāl-i Halvatī on the way to the sultanate from Amasya to İstanbul.
