Kocaeli Deniz Turizmi Potansiyelinin Değerlendirilmesine Yönelik Nitel Bir Araştırma

Abstract

Türkiye, temiz denizleri, deniz turizmine uygun kıyıları, doğal ve tarihî güzellikleri ile uygun iklim koşullarıyla deniz turizminde dünya da en fazla tercih edilen ülkelerden biridir. Ülkemize gelen yabancı turistlerin geçmiş- ten bu yana en fazla tercih ettiği turizm türü ise deniz turizmidir. Deniz turizmi, genel olarak deniz-kum-güneş olarak bilinse de, esasında kapsamı oldukça geniştir. Deniz turizmi; yat turizmi, kurvaziyer turizmi, günübirlik tur tekneleri, guletler, talassoterapi uygulamaları, su sporlar ve rekreatif etkinliklerden oluşmaktadır. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın literatür incelemesi kısmında; deniz turizmi, deniz turizmi türleri ve ülkemizde gelişimi ele alınmıştır. Araştırma bölümünde ise Kocaeli kenti deniz turizmi potansiyelini değerlendirmek üzere, Kocaeli deniz turizmi konusunda uzman kişiler ile yapılandırılmamış görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Böylece Kocaeli kenti deniz turizmi destinasyonları hakkında derinlemesine bilgi edinerek, elde edilen veriler nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimsel analiz yöntemi ile değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca araştırma kapsamında Kocaeli kenti deniz turizminin güçlü ve zayıf yanları ile fırsat ve tehditlerini ortaya koymak amacıyla SWOT analizi yapılarak, kentin deniz turizmi ve deniz turizmi türlerinin geliştirilmesine yönelik sürdürülebilir turizm ekseninde öneriler getirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda; kentin kıyısı olduğu Marmara Denizi ve Karadeniz kıyılarındaki deniz turizmi destinasyonlarında; deniz turizmine hizmet veren destinasyonlarda hizmet verecek konaklama tesisi, plaj, su sporları, marina işletmeciliği ve çeşitli rekreatif etkinliklerin geliştirilmesi gerektiği tespit edilmiştir. Ancak bu turizm etkinlikleri geliştirilirken, taşıma kapasiteleri doğrultusunda ziyaretçi sayılarının sınırlandırılması, doğal ve kültürel mirası korumaya yönelik kuralların geliştirilmesi, imar planlarında sürdürülebilir turizm ilkelerinin esas alınması ve işletmeciler ile yerel halkın bilinçlendirilmesine yönelik öneriler getirilmiştir.

A Qualiative Research for The Evaluation of Marine Tourism Potential of Kocaeli

Abstract

Turkey is one of the most preferred countries in the world for marine tourism with its clean seas, suitable coasts for marine tourism, natural and historical beauties and suitable climatic conditions. From past till today the most preferred type of tourism by foreign tourists coming to our country is Marine Tourism. Marine Tourism, even known in general as sea-sand-sun, has actually a wide scope. Marine tourism consists of activities like yacht tourism, cruise tourism, daily tour boats, gulets, thalassotherapy practices, water sports and recreational activites. In this respect, in the literature review part of the study; marine tourism, types of marine tourism and its development in our country are addressed. In the research section, unpatterned interviews were conducted with experts in Kocaeli marine tourism in order to evaluate the marine tourism potential of Kocaeli city.
Thus, by getting in-depth knowledge about the marine tourism destinations of Kocaeli city, the gathered datas were evaluated with the descriptive analysis technique, which is one of the qualitative research techniques. Furthermore, SWOT analysis has been made in order to bring out the strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats of marine tourism in Kocaeli city, and suggestions have been made within the scope of sustainable tourism oriented to the development of city’s water tourism and its types. As a result of the research; in the marine tourism destinations on the coasts of the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea, of where the city’s coastline is; it has been detected that accommodation facilities, beaches, water sports, marina management and various recreational activities providing services in marine tourism destinations should be developed. However, while developing these tourism activities, proposals have been made to limit the number of visitors in accordance with their carrying capacity, to develop rules for the protection of natural and cultural heritage, to use sustainable tourism principles as a basis in development plans, and to raise awareness of entrepreneurs and locals.
