Comparison of Islamic Banking in Malaysia and Türkiye
Abstract
Purpose – Examine the development of Islamic banking in Türkiye and Malaysia and to compare Islamic banking indicators for the period 2006-2023.
Methodology – The study was conducted through academic studies and reports in the literature.
Findings – Malaysia has been taking steps in the field of Islamic banking earlier than Türkiye. During the period 2006-2023, the shares of Islamic banking in Malaysia in terms of assets, loans and deposits in total banking are higher than in Türkiye. There is no separate law on Islamic banking in Türkiye.
Conclusions – It was determined that Malaysia has taken steps in the field of Islamic banking earlier than Türkiye, that this situation was reflected in the indicators related to Islamic banking in favor of Malaysia, and that there is still no law on Islamic banking in Türkiye.
