Abstract
Based on the safety criterion, performance on the public transportation systems aims to
transport passengers from one stop to another by the minimum time, the optimal passenger
number and the minimum cost. The main variables effecting the street railway public transportation
systems are the number of the train stop, the mileage between two train stops, the
crossroads on the street railway, the density of passenger for the each train stop, the time
spent between getting in and getting off and the total transportation time. In this study, using the one of the problem solving techniques that is the waiting line
models, the performance level of the street railway provided by Directorship of the Public
Transportation of Konya Metropolitan Municipality is tested and the suggestions are presented to
improve the public transportation service level, the passenger satisfaction and the other related
factors. The performance level of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Public Transportation Systems
based on the implementation of the electronic card system is also tested.
