Abstract
The phenomenon mobbing has been studied scientifically for more than twenty years.
In the last ten years there has been increasing concern about violence at workplaces. The
literature about mobbing in Turkey should be expanded. OBJECTIVES: There is a need
to be clarified the relationship beetwen mobbing and conflict. This Study tries to analyse
mobbing and conflict management strategies through an emprical research. Also the
mobbing level and its kinds on the victims and preferred conflict management strategies are determined. METHODS: Through a survey, managed on 182 persons, in a public
organization, data about mobbing cases and prefering conflict management strategies
analysed. And chi-square method was used in statistical analyses. RESULTS: It’s found
that the employees experience difficulty in expressing them selves as a mobbing
behaviour. They prefer a “win-lose strategy” against mobbing situations. In addition, it’s
also found that most prefered conflict solving method is to take organisational precautions
and there is a relationship between the level of mobbing and conflict management
strategies.
