Abstract
In the academic world, Operations Research as a practice oriented scientific field has
received attention with topics on the development of methods and their application.
However, the education of these topics has long been neglected, and only in recent years
with the developments in the field of education, has it started to gain importance. Through
this new perspective, this research investigates the current developments, discussions and
directions in Operations Research education. In these days when the integration with the
European Union is Turkey’s one of the major agendas, considering the projects applied
throughout the EU to obtain compatibility and increase effectiveness in education, the
need to revise Operations Research education within Business education arises. The developments and compatibility efforts in education will positively reflect on the world of
business, increasing Turkish companies’ chance and success in the current competitive
global atmosphere. This article on Operations Research education investigates the use of
case studies, mathematical modeling, software usage, and interactive and active learning
methods and discusses Turkey’s adaptation to these new educational methodologies.

SAYISAL YÖNTEMLER EĞİTİMİNİN İŞLETME ÖĞRENİMİ AÇISINDAN İNCELENMESİ
Abstract
Uygulamalı bir bilim olan sayısal yöntemler, akademide daha çok metotların geliştirilmesi ve uygulanması konularıyla ilgi bulmaktadır. Fakat bu konuların öğretilmesi ise nispeten uzun yıllar ilgisiz bırakılmış, ancak eğitim alanında genel anlamdaki gelişmeler doğrultusunda yakın zamanlarda önem kazanmaya başlamıştır. Bu araştırma, bu yeni bakış açısı doğrultusunda sayısal yöntemler eğitiminde meydana gelen gelişmeleri, tartışmaları ve yeni doğrultuları incelemektedir. Avrupa Birliği (AB) ile her konudaki entegrasyonun gündemde olduğu şu günlerde, eğitimde uyumun sağlanması için AB kapsamında uygulamaya konan projeler göz önüne alındığında, işletme eğitimi dahilindeki sayısal yöntemler eğitiminin etkinliğinin arttırılması ve uyumu için gözden geçirilmesi ve bu konunun akademik yönden tartışmaya açılması olumlu olacaktır. Eğitimdeki uyum ve yenilikler iş dünyasına da olumlu yansıyacak, Türk şirketlerinin günümüzün küresel rekabet ortamındaki şansı ve başarısı için katkı sağlayacaktır. Sayısal yöntemler eğitimi odaklı bu araştırmada, sırasıyla örnek olay kullanımı, matematiksel modelleme, yazılım kullanımı ve etkileşimsel ve aktif eğitim metotları incelenmiş ve Türkiye’nin de bu yeni eğitimsel yaklaşımları ne derecede takip ettiği tartışılmıştır.
