Abstract
In global competition, it is seen that, around the companies, there are important
increases in the numbers of the events which emerge because of the out of the control of
the company or the unsuccessful strategies that the management of the company takes.
Beside the determination of structure and conditions of the company’s environment, it
must be guessed that what kind of change and development will be in the external
conditions in the near future. Company’s ability to response to these changes depends on
the flexibility degree of their manufacturing process. The companies whose
manufacturing process is in a flexible structure can increase the performance of the
company by their fast and at the right time response, especially in the crisis.
Manufacturing flexibility is widely recognised as a critical component to achieve a
competitive advantage in the marketplace. In this study, the effect of manufacturing flexibility on corporate performance is examined. The results are based on the findings of
85 companies operating in the Turkey’s 500 The Biggest Industry Companies. To
investigate whether manufacturing process flexibility has a positive impact on company
performance during a crisis period those companies that reported that they had been
negatively effected by the latest crises were included in the data analysis

Abstract
Günümüzün rekabetçi iş dünyasında, değişimi öğrenmek, planlamak ve uygulamak, bir işletmenin uzun vadede yaşamını sürdürmesi ve başarısı için en önemli öncelik olarak düşünülmelidir. Çok kısa süre içerisinde ekonomik, sosyal, kültürel ve teknolojik alanlarda meydana gelen değişim, işletmelerin birçok açıdan yeniden yapılanmalarını öngörmektedir. Günümüz küresel rekabet ortamında faaliyet gösteren işletmeler, öncelikle konumlarını koruyarak varlıklarını devam ettirmeyi ve büyüyerek daha güçlü ve başarılı olmayı hedeflemelidir. Bu bağlamda işletmelerin, üretim süreçlerinin esnek bir yapıda olması, özellikle kriz dönemlerinde performansına olumlu katkılar sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışma ile, Türkiye’nin 500 büyük sanayi kuruluşunda kriz dönemlerinde işletmelerin üretim süreç esnekliğinin şirketlerin performansına etkilerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.
