A Field Study on Exploring the Spiritual Approach of Young Professionals (Generation Z) in Terms of Existence, Meaning, and Purpose

Abstract

The aim of our study is to explore the spirituality approaches of young professionals (Generation Z) who are new to the workforce, focusing on the dimensions of existence, meaning, and purpose. The study sample consists of young professionals born in 1997 or later, who have worked full-time in the private sector for at least one year, and who reside in the Marmara Region. The design of our research is a qualitative-dominant parallel mixed design. A review of the literature reveals that there are many domestic and foreign studies that address the human dynamics that change with the spirit of the times and change the spirit of the times through generations, and that focus on the typology of Generation Z, which is the focus of our research. Similarly, the concept of spirituality and workplace spirituality has been studied and examined in numerous academic works. However, no study has been found that covers how young professionals make sense of their existence, their feelings and thoughts about the purpose of life, and how they define the concept of spirituality. This study seeks to discover how young professionals approach the field of spirituality within a unity of existence, meaning, and purpose. In order to develop an awareness of how human beings can exist in unity and integrity with their substance and meaning in the field of work life, as in all areas of life, the focus is on how young professionals define these multidimensional abstract areas.

Genç Profesyonellerin (Z Kuşağı) Maneviyata Yaklaşımlarının Varlık, Anlam ve Amaç Boyutlarıyla Birlikte Keşfedilmesi Üzerine Bir Saha Çalışması

Abstract

Çalışmamızın amacı iş hayatındaki genç profesyonellerin (Z kuşağı) maneviyat yaklaşımlarını varlık, anlam, amaç boyutları ile birlikte keşfetmektir. Çalışma örneklemi 1997 yılı ve sonrasında doğmuş, en az bir yıl özel sektörde tam zamanlı beyaz yakalı olarak çalışmış, Marmara Bölgesi’nde ikamet eden genç profesyoneller olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmamızın deseni nitel baskın paralel karma desendir. Alan yazın incelendiğinde zamanın ruhu ile değişen ve zamanın ruhunu değiştiren beşerî dinamiklerin kuşaklar üzerinden ele alındığı ve araştırmamız özelinde odaklanılan Z kuşağının tipolojisi üzerine yapılmış yerli ve yabancı birçok çalışma mevcuttur. Aynı şekilde maneviyat kavramının ve iş yeri maneviyatının üzerine çalışılmış, çok sayıda akademik çalışmada incelenmiştir. Fakat genç profesyonellerin varlıklarını anlamlandırma şekilleri, hayatın amacına yönelik duygu ve düşünceleri ile maneviyat kavramını nasıl tarif ettiklerini kapsayan bir çalışmaya rastlanmamıştır. Yapılan bu çalışma ile genç profesyonellerin maneviyat alanına varlık, anlam ve amaç bütünlüğü içinde nasıl yaklaştıkları keşfedilmeye çalışılmıştır. İnsan denen varlığın hayatın her alanında olduğu gibi iş hayatı alanında da maddesi ve manası ile birlik ve bütünlük içinde nasıl var olabileceğine yönelik bir farkındalık geliştirebilmek için genç profesyonellerin bu çok boyutlu soyut alanları nasıl tarif ettiklerine odaklanılmıştır.
