Yapay Zekanın Gazetecilik Pratiklerindeki Yeri

Year 2024, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 135 - 163, 30.11.2024

Abstract

The Place of Artificial Intelligence on Journalism Practices

Year 2024, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 135 - 163, 30.11.2024

Abstract

Communication research is increasingly focusing on AI. As artificial intelligence technologies rapidly spread throughout daily life, they are transforming media and communication. Artificial intelligence technologies have a major impact on journalism. This study examines the effects of artificial intelligence on journalistic practices, the potential effects of technological transformation on the profession, and journalistic ethical and professional standards challenges and opportunities. Artificial intelligence technologies affect every stage of journalism, from news production to presentation and distribution, but their use and effects must be reevaluated due to their potential to increase prejudice, bias, and ethical violations. In this framework, the development of communication technologies, the concept of artificial intelligence and its use in the field of media and its impact on journalistic practices will be examined with an argumentative method. The answers to the research question will be based on the arguments of previous scientific studies. The research question of the study is as follows: How does the use of artificial intelligence in journalism affect the processes of information production, presentation and distribution, and what positive and negative changes do these practices create on journalistic practices, ethical rules and editorial policy? According to the research findings, artificial intelligence applications have accelerated news production processes and expanded the possibilities of in-depth reporting in journalism by increasing information gathering and analysis capacities. This technology affects the reader experience with features such as personalization of news and distribution to specific audiences, and offers valuable opportunities for media organizations working with limited resources. However, risks such as ethical issues and algorithmic biases brought by artificial intelligence are among the potential negative impacts of this technology on journalism.
