Abstract
Risala al-Hamdala is a work written by Muhammad b. Mustafa al-Akkirmânî (d.1760) in Arabic that includes the subjects of fıqh, worship and morality. Al-Akkirmânî is an important person who has written numerous works in fields such as fıqh, kalam, tafsir, hadith, siyar (prophetic biography), sufism and Islamic moral philosophy and has served as a judge. Risale al-Hamdala consists of the hashiyah (marginalias) on Molla Hussain b. Iskandar al-Hanafî’s comment on Imam Abu Hanifa’s al-Wasiyyah and the hashiyah on Buhârîzâde’s treatise on morality. Risale al-Hamdala begins with the subjects of belief and worship and ends with evaluations on the issue of morality. The treatise has an eclectic character and therefore contains many views. Akkirmânî added some notes and additions to many parts of al-Fiqh al-Akbar and al-Wassiyya in this treatise. In this way, he tried to reveal Ebu Hanife's views more clearly. Due to these features of the treatise, this article is important as it deals with the Risala al-Hamdala in terms of its content, resources and problems. In this article, we first discussed the life, scientific personality and works of Akkirmânî. Secondly, we tried to determine Akkirmânî's methodology and the resources he utilized in this treatise. Then we gave information about the general characteristics and content of the treatise. Finally, we made evaluations about the content of this treatise.
