Abstract
Undoubtedly, Ibn Kesir and Tabari, who greatly influenced the commentators lived after them, are two of the most prominent names of narration tafsir, which is one of the two basic methods that reveal the traditional methodology of the science of tafsir. It is seen that these two great commentators, who basically use the same method, have different perspectives in the explanation of the verses and the use of the narrations from time to time, and they apply different interpretation techniques in the details. Revealing these different techniques and the different perspectives they put forth, and the evidences that support them, will open different and new horizons for those who will study in this field in understanding the Qur'an. In the first three suras, we will try to show the differences or similarities that become clear by comparing the narrations and explanations of these two great commentators about the verses and the evidences for these explanations. In this study, the main subject we will focus on is to determine the evaluations of Ibn Kesir about the narrations of Tabari transmitted for the explanation of the verses, the basis of these evaluations, the perspectives and criteria of the two commentators about the narrations. In this context, the result obtained by comparing the two tafsir will clarify the reasons for the methodological differences. In addition, the factors that cause the different perspectives of the two commentators are among the issues to be evaluated in this context. While evaluating the narrations, Ibn Kathir applied to many criteria and analyzed the same narration both technically and in terms of text content, and presented her criticisms. The differences in principle or in details between Tabari's attitude and Ibn Kesir's attitude on the same issues are important in terms of tafsir method as well as revealing the differences in the application of this method. This issue will create important data for those who will work in the field of tafsir regarding the evaluation of the narrations. In the evaluation of the narrations, besides the issues related to the authenticity of the narration, the issue of the reconciliation of these narrations with other narrations and their submission to other authentic sources will enable to reveal important perspectives about the two commentators.
