People have been in an effort to shape cities and regulate the existence of the organizations that manage these cities, since they started settled life. Cities have always played an impressive role for humanity, maintaining their quality of being a permanent attraction. As a matter of fact, although cities have a dynamic structure, they are ancient places where continuous interaction is experienced. After the 19th century, due to industrialization and population growth, the rate of urbanization gradually increased, thus cities started to damage the nature they had gained their existence, causing urban and environmental problems to emerge and become widespread. The concept of "sustainable city" has come to the fore in order to solve the aforementioned problems and to ensure that cities become world places of rise by preserving their ancient structures again. The concept in question has become an agenda created to increase the quality of life, protect the right to live of future generations and use limited natural resources in a more efficient way, deepening its nature in the process. Nowadays, it is accepted that municipalities are the leading administrations that can realize this purpose at the point of establishing the existence of sustainable cities. With this study, it is aimed to examine and exemplify the natural causal link between sustainable cities and municipalities through Mezitli Municipality.
