Numerical Variation analysis of prostheses and orthoses fabrication and fitting in Turkey according to Social Security Administration of Turkey

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze prosthetics and orthotics, which have been fabricated in Turkey over the last five years and create the infrastructure for scientific studies on this issue and to determine resource consumption. Methods: In the last five years prostheses and orthoses were analyzed based on the data taken from Social Security Administration of Turkey. Results: The 26136 prostheses and orthoses were fabricated during the last five years. 19381 of them were orthoses and 6755 were prostheses. The 9588 lower limb orthoses, 8214 spinal orthoses, and 1579 upper limb orthoses, constitutes orthotics fabricated and fitted. The 6062 lower limb prostheses and 693 upper limb prostheses constitute all prosthetic fabrication and fitting. According to the results, Knee-ankle-foot orthosis (KAFOs) are the most widely applied lower extremity orthotics. The KAFOs constitute 74% of lower limb orthotics, 37% of orthotics, and 27% of all prosthetic-orthotic applications. The most widely applied lower limb prostheses are modular transtibial (TT) prostheses. Modular TT prostheses constitute 63% of lower limb prosthetic applications, 57% of prosthetic applications, and 15% of prosthetic-orthotic applications. Conclusion: The number of KAFOs and modular TT prostheses are 10969 which is nearly 40% of 26236 prosthetic-orthotic applications

Sosyal Güvenlik Kurumu verilerine göre Türkiyea€™de hastaya özel yapılarak uygulanan protez ve ortezlerin sayısal çeşitlilik analizi

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’de son beş yılda yapılan protez ve ortezlerin analizini yapmak, bu konudaki bilimsel çalışmalara alt yapı oluşturmak ve kaynak tüketimini saptamaktır. Yöntem: Çalışma ve Sosyal Güvenlik Bakanlığı Sosyal Güvenlik Kurumu Genel Müdürlüğünden alınan verilere dayanarak son beş yılda yapılarak uygulanan protez ve ortezlerin kullanıldığı yerlere göre sayısal dağılımları incelenmiştir. Sonuçlar: Son beş yılda 26136 protez ve ortez yapılmıştır. Bunların 19381’i ortez ve 6755’i protezdir. Ortez yapım ve uygulamalarının 9588’ini alt ekstremite, 8214’ünü gövde ortezleri ve 1579’unu üst ekstremite ortezleri oluşturmaktadır. Protez yapım ve uygulamalarının 6062’sini alt ekstremite protezleri ve 693’nü üst ekstremite protezleri oluşturmaktadır. Analiz sonuçlarına göre en çok uygulanan alt ekstremite ortezleri uzun yürüme ortezidir. Uzun yürüme ortezleri alt ekstremite ortez uygulamalarının % 74’ünü, ortez uygulamalarının % 37’sini ve protez-ortez uygulamalarının % 27’sini oluşturmaktadır. En çok uygulanan alt ekstremite protezleri modüler diz altı protezleridir. Modüler diz altı protezleri alt ekstremite protez uygulamalarının % 63’ünü, tüm protez uygulamalarının % 57’sini ve genel protez-ortez uygulamalarının ise % 15’ini oluşturmaktadır. Tartışma: Uzun yürüme ortezleri ve modüler diz altı protezleri son beş yılda yapılarak uygulanan 26136 protez-ortezin 10969’unu yaklaşık % 40’ını oluşturmaktadır
