Relationships between the Smartphone and Internet Addiction Levels of Nursing Students and Their Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors

Abstract

Method: Designed as a cross-sectional study, the research had a population comprised of all students studying at the Department of Nursing of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Sivas Cumhuriyet University. Findings: It was found that the participant nursing students had smartphone and internet addictions below the medium level and healthy lifestyle behaviors above the medium level. The regression analysis indicated that the participant students’ internet addiction affected 25% of their healthy lifestyle behaviors. Conclusion: It was identified that the nursing students’ smartphone and internet addiction levels had a relationship with their healthy lifestyle behaviors, and as the smartphone and internet addictions increased, a downward trend was observed in healthy lifestyle behaviors.
