Acquired maxillary defects cause serious problems in aesthetics, function and speech in patients. Surgical repair or prosthetic
treatment is an option in the rehabilitation of these defects. Obturators give successful results in the rehabilitation of these defects.
In this case report, it was aimed to rehabilitate the maxillary defect due to osteomyelitis seen after tooth extraction with obturator.
The patient was covered with vaseline gauze to prevent tissue irritation in the defect area and prevent the impression material from
escaping to the defect area before the maxillary impression was taken. Then, using standard edentulous impression trays the
anatomical dimensions of the lower and upper jaws were taken and personal impression trays were prepared. The size of the upper
jaw was taken with polyether impression material and the size of the lower jaw with zinc oxide augenol impression material. The
relationship between the lower and upper jaw of the patient was recorded with the base plates, and after the tooth alignment was
done, a rehearsal was made. After the rehearsal, finishing processes were started. Oroantral relationship may be impaired due to
defects in the maxillofacial area. The task of the maxillofacial prostodontist is to rehabilitate these problems in patients.
