A Study On The Wastes Of Community Of Pharmacy And Their Management

Abstract

As it is known, environmental pollution has an impotant role on spoiling of life balance in the world. Waste ofpharmacy drugs that completely unused or exceed the expirated date, chemical substances used in production ofmagistral drugs and their pats and waste of injection and packaging materials is also a factor in environmentalpollution. Management of the waste of pharmacy is very important for people and environmental health.In this study, It was investigated how to store and eliminate of medical waste produced in communitypharmacies in Ankara. Material of the study consist of questionery forms applied to 193 of community pharmacist of1303 at the center of Ankara in 2000. The data have been evaluated by means of SPSS 7.0 statistical packageprogram.According to the results of the study, 14.5% and 50% of the pharmacist throw away the drugs that exceededthe expireted date and waste of injection, respectively
