Behaviour of individuals is shaped in the society in which they live and, the formation of value judgements is based on the references of the society. Therefore, the assumptions, perspectives and application forms of the individuals that make up the society are determined in the field that outlines the social consensus. Thus, social dynamics are effective in an individual's behaviour, in the actuation of his/her thoughts and in the relations with the external environment. As in rules of literature, art and the law; in economy, too, social judgments affect an individual’s behaviour. This situation applies to savings or purchasing behaviour, as is also true for investment and production decisions. Proverbs and idioms are texts that reveal society's values. Proverbs, which reflect the folk culture from past to present, are the basic references that can be taken as basis in terms of revealing the society's historical overview of entrepreneurship. The establishment of entrepreneurial culture and more entrepreneurs getting raised in the society of the future will remarkably contribute to the development of the society in terms of socio-economics. So, the examination of the historical roots of the society is important in order to state opinions and make suggestions about the nature of entrepreneurship in a society. The aim of this study is to set forth the place and importance of the understanding of entrepreneurship in our folk culture and the impact of culture on entrepreneurship. For this purpose, our proverbs and idioms were analyzed, and the proverbs regarding entrepreneurship were generally evaluated under the titles of entrepreneurship, the qualities an entrepreneur should have, and the success / accomplishment factors in entrepreneurship. As the result of this, entrepreneurship and trade issues generally has been found to be significantly in our proverbs and idioms as basic texts that reflect the folk culture, it has been determined that our proverbs and idioms encourage studying / working, transacting business and trade, generally by being on the safe side, and besides this, they provide an insight into the modern- day by laying emphasis on the fundamental qualities of an entrepreneur and accomplishment factors in entrepreneurship defined in the literature
