Abstract

Bu çalışmayla; eski Mısır dönemine kullanılan mobilyaların özellikleri belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Yapılan araştırma sonucunda; mobilya ile ilgili ilk bilinen örneklerin bu döneme ait olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu dönemde ön plana çıkan mobilyaların sandalye, tabure, masa, karyola, şifonyer ve sandıklar olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Sandalye ve taburelerin yaşam biçimine bağlı olarak oturma yüksekliklerinin düşük tutulduğu, yemek yeme ve oyun oynama amacıyla kullanılan masalarında yüksekliklerinin düşük tutulduğu görülmüştür. Karyolaların bazılarının sabit bazılarının ise katlanır yapıldığı, karyolalarda başucu yerine baş destekleri kullanıldığı belirlenmiştir. Şifonyer ve sandıkların yaşarken çeşitli eşyaları muhafaza etmek için öldükten sonra kişisel ve değerli eşyaları koymak için tercih edildiği anlaşılmıştır. Mobilyaların imalatında abanoz ve sedir ağacının kullanıldığı, birleştirmelerde ise kavela ve zıvanalı birleştirmelerin uygulandığı belirlenmiştir. Sandalyelerin oturma kısımlarında sert ağaç ve sazlardan hasır uygulaması tercih edilirken, tabure ve karyolalarda sazlardan hasır ve ip uygulamasının yapıldığı anlaşılmıştır.

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF FURNITURE IN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN PERIOD

Abstract

In this study, the characteristics of the furniture used in the ancient Egyptian period were tried to be determined. As a result of the research, it was determined that the first known examples of furniture belonged to this period. It has been understood that the furniture that came to the fore in this period were chairs, stools, tables, beds, dressers and chests. It has been observed that the sitting heights of the chairs and stools were kept low depending on the lifestyle, and the heights of the tables used for eating and playing games were kept low. It has been determined that some of the beds were fixed and some were foldable, and that head supports were used instead of headboards. It has been understood that dressers and chests were preferred to store various items while alive and to place personal and valuable items after death. It was determined that ebony and cedar wood were used in the manufacture of furniture, and dowel and tenon joints were used in the joints. It was understood that hardwood and reed wicker was preferred for the seating parts of the chairs, while reed wicker and rope were used for the stools and bedsteads.
