Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Glaucoma
Abstract
The aim of the present brief comments on recent articles from the world literature that focus on the role of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in the development of glaucoma is to emphasize this significant association. This matter more often stands restricted to fields of neurology, pneumology, and ophthalmology specialists. Nevertheless, the preventive measures for the avoidance of glaucoma among individuals with sleep disorders should be a routine task among other healthcare workers, since primary care attention for the population. The authors strongly believe that ample dissemination of either single case studies or reviews of literature can enhance the general interest and awareness about this challenging association, providing more early diagnosis and prompt adequate management.
