A Study on Paxillus involutus: Total Antioxidant and Oxidant Potential

Abstract

Total Antioxidant Status (TAS), Total Oxidant Status (TOS) and Oxidative Stress Index (OSI) of the ethanol extract of Paxillus involutus mushroom collected from Burdur province (Turkey) were determined with Rel Assay Diagnostics kits. The study findings demonstrated that TAS values of the mushroom ethanol extract was 1.230 ± 0.035 mmol/L, TOS was 7.533 ± 0.102 μmol/L and OSI was 0.613 ± 0.018. Based on these findings, it was determined that P. involutus mushroom had antioxidant potential, and thus, medical properties.
