İNGİLİZ VE AMERİKAN KAYITLARINDA NUSAYRÎLER

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, İngiliz ve Amerikan seyyah, Doğu bilimcisi, misyoner ve araştırmacıların 19. Yüzyılda Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’na bağlı olan Suriye’nin kuzeyinde yaşayan Nusayrî toplumunu algılama ve kendi toplumlarına açıklama biçimleri ve değişik nedenlerle duydukları ilginin izlerini araştırmaktır. Makalede, İngiliz ve Amerikan kayıtlarında yansıyan Nusayrîlerin kökeni ve yaşadıkları coğrafi bölgenin tespitinin yanı sıra, toplumsal yaşamları, inanç sistemleri, dinî bayramları ve Hristiyanlıkla ilişkilendirilme çabaları gibi konular üzerinde durulmaktadır. Araştırmamızın önemli bir amacı da, bu özgün toplumun çeşitli yönleriyle incelenmesini sağlamak ve okuyucunun bilgisine sunmaktır.

NUSAIRIS IN BRITISH AND AMERICAN SOURCES

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the traces of Nusairis in the 19th century, who live in and around Northern Syria under the sovereignty of Ottoman Empire, illustrated in the sources by British and American travelers, Orientalists, missionaries and researchers, and the ways of understanding and reflection of this society as well as the reasons of the close interest in them. The determination of the roots of Nusairis, their geographic region, their social life, belief system, religious festivals, as well as the efforts to relate them with the Christianity are several of the subjects in question. One of the other main purposes of this article is to investigate this unique society from various angles in order to provide knowledge about them.
