In this study we focus on the “Diado Dobri” short story of Iliya Rashkov Blaskov who is a writer
and social activist of Bulgarian Revitalization (Vazrazhdane) period. Our interest in this study arose
in connection with our broader research devoted to the history and present situation of Muslim
worship places (monarchies, mausoleums) in Northkte eastern Bulgaria, and specifically the Musa
Baba lodge in Tekke Kozluca (Izbul) village of Yenipazar (Novi Pazar). The story of Iliya Blaskov’s
“Diado Dobri” was published in Rusçuk (Ruse) in 1886. This literary work intrigued us because it is
one of the oldest published texts in Bulgarian describing the “Musa Baba” lodge located near Tekke
Kozluca village. Moreover, in some scientific studies that directly or indirectly examine the history
and culture of the Turkish (Muslim) population in Bulgaria, the works (short stories) of Iliya Blaskov
are cited as sources. Our aim here is to convey what was written by Bliskov, while doing this, we
compare these writings with archival documents and various studies. In this way, we believe that
we will contribute on the subject. The information obtained from various historical, geographical,
ethnological, and local history and culture studies etc. sometimes contradicts each other, which
makes the synthesis and generalization of the material difficult. We tried to resolve this as much as
we could by referring to various sources. Of course, we do not claim to have covered the subject fully
and examined it in detail.
