Abstract
Osmanlı Devleti ve Habsburg idaresindeki Avusturya arasında doğrudan yapılan ticaret faaliyetleri, iki devlet arasında sık sık meydana gelen savaşlar nedeniyle XVI. yüzyıl boyunca fazla gelişmemiştir; ancak XVII. yüzyılla birlikte bu durum değişmeye ve iki bölge arasındaki ticareti geliştirmek için somut adımlar atılmaya başlanmıştır. Daha çok Avusturya'nın insiyatifiyle atılan bu adımlardan, iki taraf arasındaki husumetin tam olarak ortadan kalkmaması ve Avusturya tüccarlarının Osmanlı ticaretine uzak durmaları nedeniyle olumlu sonuç alınamamıştır. Buna karşılık XVIII. yüzyıl sonla-rında iki bölge arasında Tuna nehrini kullanarak gerçekleştirilmek istenen ticaret faaliyetlerinde canlanma yaşanmış ve bu son dönemdeki ticaret faali-yetlerinde gayr-ı müslim Osmanlı tebaası tüccarların etkinlikleri dikkat çek-miştir.
Abstract
In the XVIth century the trade between the Ottoman State and the Habsburg Austria did not develop satisfactorily mainly owing to the wars against each other. Starting with the XVIIth century however, this situation began to change and, thanks to the efforts of the Austrians, concrete steps were taken to develop the commercial activities between the two regions. Nonetheless, these efforts did not prove to be adequate since the hostility between the two powers was still maintained and the Austrian merchants showed indifference to the commercial enterprises in the Ottoman territories. Towards the end of the XVII century, however, commercial expeditions made over the river Danube was revived. In this stage of the commercial avtivities the non-muslim Ottoman merchants came into prominence.
