Abstract

Makalede, Dede Korkut Hikâyelerinde geçen “Boy boyladı soy soyladı” sözü ile göçebe Türklerin dünyasında neyin dile getirilmiş olabileceği üzerinde duruldu. Kabile anlamında boy ile nesil, kök anlamına gelen soy sözcükleri aynı zamanda bu siyasî ve kan bağına bağlı birliklerin anlatıları-nın da isimleri olup olmadıkları tartışıldı. Bu sözün muhtemel anlamları metindışı bağlamdan hareketle ortaya konmaya çalışıldı. Dede Korkut Kitabı dışındaki metinlerde bu anlamına rastlanmayan, en genel anlamıyla “anlatı” ile karşılayabileceğimiz “boy” ve “soy” sözcüklerinin, şifahî anlatı-larda 20. yüzyıla kadar varlığını devam ettirdiği sonucuna varıldı.

THE PAST COVERED BY THE SAYING “BOY BOYLAD. SOY SOYLAD” IN DEDE KORKUT TALES

Abstract

This article aims to shed light on what the saying “Boy boylad. soy soylad.” present in Dede Korkut Tales was used to express in the world of nomadic Turcomans. It is discussed whether the word “boy” meaning “tribe” in Turkish and the term “soy” meaning “origin, descent”, are used together in this saying to refer to the oral narratives of nomadic political unities depending on blood relationship. By doing this, possible textual meanings for this saying are discussed regarding the historical context of the text. It is found out that the words “boy” and “soy” to which we do not witness with the meaning “narrative” except The Book of Dede Korkut, exists in oral tradition of nomads till XXth century.
