Erythema Nodosum: Case Report
Abstract
Erythema nodosum is the most common form of panniculitis. It may have many etiological factors. Erythema nodosum occurs three to five times more often in female patients. It often appears as painful round nodules with erythema, located on the anterior surface of the lower extremities. Although systemic inflammatory diseases and infections take an important place in the etiology, it may also be idiopathic. Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease of which etiopathology has not yet been determined. In this study, a 51-year-old female patient was diagnosed with erythema nodosum in the evaluation made after applying with skin rashes. She was diagnosed as sarcoidosis while investigating the etiology of erythema nodosum. Erythema nodosum is an important guide in a disease full of uncertainties like sarcoidosis.
