Abstract
Anti-HIV-p24 antigen which was detected negative in 121,510 (99.34%) samples that were sent to the ELISA laboratories of ESOGU Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Microbiology for HIV ELISA test in 122,318 serum samples between 2010-2018 while 808 (0.66%) samples which were tested twice were detected as reactive. 137 (16.95%) of the 808 (100%) of the reagents which sent to Eskişehir Provincial Health Directorate channels with the Public Health Agency of Turkey Microbiology Reference Laboratory and Biological Products under the Head of the National AIDS Reference and Verification Laboratory, were identified as true HIV positive. 116 (84.7%) of the 137 HIV positive samples are male and the remaining 21 (15.3%) are female. When the distribution by age is examined, it is seen that true positive patients constitute the majority with 112 (74%) people between 20-49 years of age, while 5 (3%) between 0-19 years and 30 (23%) of 50+ age range. 121 (88%) of the HIV (+) patients are Turkish citizens while 16 (12%) are foreign nationals. As a result; HIV seroprevalence in Eskişehir region between 2010-2018 is found as 0.11%.
