Environmental Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Practices in Healthcare: A Bibliometric Analysis with Vosviewer

Year 2024, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 17 - 29, 27.12.2024

Abstract

This study aims to examine the current status and development of the literature on environmental sustainability in healthcare through a bibliometric analysis. A total of 944 publications from the Web of Science (WOS) database, covering the period between 2000 and 2024, were analyzed. The study employed bibliometric analysis, one of the quantitative research methods, which helps to evaluate the literature based on criteria such as authors, citations, countries, journals, and keywords, while also identifying trends over time. Using VOSviewer software, author networks, country collaborations, keyword co-occurrence, citation networks, and co-authorship relationships were analyzed and visualized. Among the publications, there are 823 research articles, 63 reviews, 37 editorial materials, 13 conference papers, 8 book reviews, and 2 book chapters. The findings reveal that countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom are leading in the field of environmental sustainability in healthcare. The highest number of studies were conducted between 2020 and 2024, indicating the growing importance of this topic in the healthcare sector. By shedding light on the current state of academic production in this field, the study proposes collaboration opportunities and new research avenues for future studies. Identifying these trends will serve as a guide for the development and implementation of health policies based on sustainability principles. The results suggest that environmental sustainability in healthcare is gaining increasing attention in academic literature, and future research is expected to propose innovative solutions and further collaboration aimed at enhancing sustainable healthcare practices. Ultimately, studies in this field will more effectively support the goals of protecting both public health and the environment.

Sağlık Hizmetlerinde Çevresel Sürdürülebilirlik ve Çevre Dostu Uygulamalar: Vosviewer ile Bibliyometrik Bir Analiz

Year 2024, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 17 - 29, 27.12.2024
