A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF NEW MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES AND THE GROWING PROBLEM OF ELECTRONIC WASTE (E-WASTE)

Year 2024, Volume: 8 Issue: 4, 274 - 293

Abstract

The rapid development of technology and the planned obsolescence of products have deepened the problem of e-waste, and its negative impact on social life and the environment has become the focus of discussions on the issue. This study aims to explore the growing body of research on e-waste, the categories of topics that feature prominently in the research, and the nature of the debate on the topic. The study first establishes a basis for understanding e-waste through a literature review, including the definition and classification of e-waste, environmental and health hazards and the legal framework. A bibliometric analysis was then carried out on the research articles identified using the keyword 'e-waste' in the Scopus database. Vosviewer software was used to visualise the results of the analysis. The results of the analysis show that the number of publications on e-waste is increasing. However, the studies do not have a strong network of co-authors. The keyword and summary analysis provides information on e-waste related topic categories, e-waste actors and e-waste related trends. In addition, in the keyword and summary analysis, the frequency of terms related to e-waste management, recycling and recovery of e-waste, sustainability, environmental and health impacts of e-waste are noteworthy.

YENİ MEDYA TEKNOLOJİLERİ VE ARTAN ELEKTRONİK ATIK (E-ATIK) SORUNU ÜZERİNE BİBLİYOMETRİK ANALİZ

Year 2024, Volume: 8 Issue: 4, 274 - 293
