Civil Society Organizations in the Context of the Advocacy Role of Social Work

Abstract

Economic, social and political problems have increased in parallel with the increasing population in the world. With the increase of problems, it has become inevitable for individuals to defend their rights for their own interests and to gather around certain organizations. These organizations help to defend the rights of citizens by conveying the rights demanded by the society to the state. Structures known by different names such as non-governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, third sector and focusing on the problem of a particular group and working to find solutions have emerged. Non-governmental organizations that focus on social problems and intersect with the social service discipline are very important in terms of ensuring the understanding of social welfare state.
Non-governmental organizations follow the policies related to the problem they identify and inspect the applicability of the policy, develop proposals regarding the problems and carry out studies to put these proposals into action, work to carry out advocacy activities on a larger scale by expanding the solution path they deal with. These studies, which are carried out in cooperation with different disciplines, are closely related to social work. In this study, the relationship between the advocacy role of social work discipline and non-governmental organizations will be discussed.

Sosyal Hizmetin Savunuculuk Rolü Bağlamında Sivil Toplum Örgütleri

Abstract

Dünyada artan nüfusa paralel olarak ekonomik, sosyal, siyasal sorunlar da artmıştır. Sorunların artması ile bireylerin kendi çıkarları için haklarını savunmaları, belirli örgütlenmeler etrafında toplanmaları kaçınılmaz bir hal almıştır. Bunun sonucunda sivil toplum kuruluşları, sivil toplum örgütleri, üçüncü sektör gibi farklı isimlerle anılan ve belirli bir grubun sorununa odaklanan ve çözüm yolları üretmek için çalışan yapılanmalar ortaya çıkmıştır. Sosyal sorunlara odaklanan özelliği ile sosyal hizmet disiplini ile kesişen sivil toplum örgütleri sosyal refah devleti anlayışının sağlanması açısından oldukça önemlidir. Sivil toplum örgütleri tespit ettikleri sorunla ilgili politikaları izler ve politikanın uygulanabilirliğini denetler, sorunlarla ilgili öneriler geliştirerek bu önerileri faaliyete geçirecek çalışmalar yürütür, ele aldığı çözüm yolunu genişleterek daha büyük ölçekte savunuculuk faaliyetleri yürütmek için çalışır. Farklı disiplinlerle iş birliği içerisinde yürüttüğü bu çalışmalar sosyal hizmet ile yakından ilişkilidir. Bu çalışmada sosyal hizmet disiplinini savunuculuk rolünün sivil toplum örgütleri ile olan ilişkisine değinilecektir.
