Renal Biopsy in Children: Retrospective Evaluation of Percutaneous Renal Biopsies in 60 Children

Abstract

Records of 70 percutaneous renal biopsies in 60 children aged 11 months to 16 years mean 11 94±3 36 years were surveyed Sufficient specimens were obtained for histological evaluation in 59 of the 70 biopsy attempts 84 3 Transient gross hematuria was the most frequent complication 11 4 While an arterial fistula developed in one patient a late subcapsular renal abscess formation occured in another five months after the biopsy The clinical benefit of renal biopsy was evaluated with a numerical scale of 0 1 and 2 which yields a benefit rate of 90 Key words: Childhood Renal Biopsy Complications
