Abstract

Summary Preceptal cellulitis is rare in the newborn In this paper a case of a newborn who was diagnosed with preceptal cellulitis caused by haemophilus influenzae that was developed on the basis of congenital dacriostenosis is presented A nineteen days old male patient was brought to our hospital with the complaints of a leaky swollen and red left eye Physical inspection revealed edema around the left eye which was hyperemic and leaky Congenital dacriostenosis was discovered in the cranioorbital tomography Parenteral ampicillin and ceftriaxone treatments were started Culture produced beta lactamase negative haemophilus influenzae A follow up probing was planned Haemophilus influenza e is a rare cause of preceptal cellulitis in new born babies Since anomalies such as congenital dacriostenosis may develop on the basis of this condition it is useful to work with pediatric ophthalmologists In these cases probing operations performed under anesthesia provide successful results Turk Arch Ped 2010; 45: 295 8 Key words: Dacriostenosis haemophilus influenzae newborn preceptal cellulitis

Özet Yenidoğan döneminde preseptal selülit nadirdir Burada doğuştan dakriyostenoz zemininde gelişen hemofilus influenzaya bağlı preseptal selülit tanısı alan bir yenidoğan olgusu sunulmuştur Ondokuz günlük erkek hasta sol gözde akıntı şişlik ve kızarıklık nedeni ile hastanemize başvurdu Fizik muayenesinde sol göz çevresi ödemli hiperemikti akıntısı mevcuttu Kraniyoorbital tomografisinde doğuştan dakriyostenoz saptandı Hastaya damardan ampisilin ve seftriyakson başlandı Göz kültüründe beta laktamaz negatif hemofilus influenza üredi İzlemde ldquo;probing rdquo; yapılması planlandı Hemofilus influenza yenidoğanda preseptal selülitin nadir etkenlerindendir Hastalık zemininde doğuştan dakriyostenoz gibi anomaliler olabileceğinden çocuk göz doktorları ile birlikte çalışmak yararlı olacaktır Böyle olgularda genel anestezi altında uygulanan ldquo;probing rdquo; ameliyatlarından başarılı sonuçlar alınmaktadır Türk Ped Arş 2010; 45: 295 8 Anahtar sözcükler: Dakriyostenoz hemofilus influenza preseptal selülit yenidoğan
