Abstract

Klippel-Feil sendromu KFS tanısı daha önce kon- muş altı yaşında bir erkek çocuk, işitme kaybı, konuşma bozukluğu ve bir süredir işitme cihazıy- la işitememe yakınmaları ile kliniğimize başvurdu. Klinik muayene ve bilgisayarlı tomografi inceleme- sinde iki taraflı dış ve orta kulak anomalileri, odyo- lojik incelemede iki taraflı ileri derecede iletim tipi işitme kaybı saptandı. Hasta için kemik yolu cep modeli işitme cihazıyla rehabilitasyon önerildi ve ek fiziksel anomaliler yönünden gerekli tüm kon- sültasyonlar gerçekleştirildi. Klippel-Feil sendromu tanısı konan bütün çocuklarda odyolojik ve otolojik değerlendirme yapılması, mevcut sorunlarla ilgili tüm birimlerin konsültasyonu, hastanın düzenli izlenmesi ve gelişebilecek komplikasyonlar konusunda ailenin bilgilendirilmesi gerekir

Audiological evaluation of a child with Klippel-Feil syndrome

Abstract

A 6-year-old boy with formerly diagnosed KlippelFeil syndrome KFS presented with complaints of hearing loss, speech disorder, and problems related to his hearing aid. Clinical examination and computed tomography showed bilateral external and middle ear anomalies and audiological examination revealed bilateral severe conductive hearing impairment. The patient was prescribed a bone conduction hearing aid and, with necessary consultations, was examined for additional physical anomalies. All children with a diagnosis of KFS should be evaluated with audiologic and otologic examinations, consultations should be implemented with other disciplines concerning the presenting problems, a regular follow-up should be scheduled, and the parents should be informed on possible complications.
