Abstract
Necrotizing fasciitis is a rare but life-threatening soft-tissue infection primarily involving the superficial fascia and subcutaneous tissue. Only early diagnosis and aggressive therapy including broad-spectrum antibiotics and surgical intervention can avoid systemic toxicity associated with a high mortality rate. Necrotizing fasciitis is rarely seen in the head and neck region. In this article, we report a fatal case of necrotizing fasciitis in the neck of 75-yearsold female patient and reviewed the microbiology, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of this rare infection together with literature data.

Nekrotizan fasiit NF , seyrek görülen ancak hayatı tehdit eden, esas olarak yüzeyel fasya ve deri altı dokuyu tutan bir yumuşak doku enfeksi- yonudur. Yüksek mortalite ile sonuçlanan sistemik toksisite, sadece erken tanı, geniş spektrumlu antibiyotikler ve cerrahi girişim ile engellenebilir. Nekrotizan fasiit baş-boyun bölgesinde oldukça nadir yerleşir. Bu yazıda, 75 yaşında bir kadın hastanın boynunda yerleşen ve fatal seyreden NF olgusu sunuldu ve bu nadir enfeksiyonun mik- robiyolojisi, tanısı, tedavisi ve prognozu literatür verileriyle birlikte gözden geçirildi
