The Place and Importance of Biological Families in Foster Family Practices

Abstract

The foster care model is a care model developed to support children in need of protection within a family environment. This model is shaped by foster children, foster families, biological families, and child protection professionals. Although biological family has an important role in the foster care model that affects the foster care process and its aftermath, the place of biological families in this model and the work to be done with families has not been a subject that has been sufficiently emphasized. Professional work with families is essential to create stable and permanent protection for children that will ensure their physical and emotional safety. The place of biological families in the child protection system should be emphasized both for to the development of the foster care practice and for reducing the conditions that pose a risk to children. In this study, an evaluation was made regarding the work that needs to be done and details of the process of visiting the biological family and the process of reunification with the biological family if the conditions are convenient, which are significant part of the foster care model.

Koruyucu Aile Modeli Uygulamalarında Biyolojik Ailelerin Yeri ve Önemi

Abstract

Koruyucu aile modeli koruma altındaki çocukların aile yanında desteklenmesi amacıyla geliştirilmiş bir bakım modelidir. Bu model, korunmaya ihtiyacı olan ve koruyucu aile yanına yerleştirilen çocuklar, koruyucu aileler, bu çocukların biyolojik aileleri ve süreçte çalışan çocuk koruma profesyonelleri tarafından şekillenmektedir. Koruyucu aile modelinde çocuğun biyolojik ailesinin koruyucu ailelik sürecini ve sonrasını etkileyen önemli bir rolü olmasına rağmen biyolojik ailelerin bu model içindeki yeri ve ailelerle yapılması gereken çalışmalar üzerinde yeterince durulan bir konu olmamıştır. Çocuklar için fiziksel ve duygusal güvenliklerini sağlayacak, istikrarlı ve kalıcı bir koruma oluşturmak için biyolojik aileleriyle profesyonel çalışma yapılması büyük öneme sahiptir. Hem koruyucu ailelik uygulamasının gelişmesi hem de çocuklar için risk oluşturacak koşulların azaltılması için biyolojik ailelerin çocuk koruma sistemi içindeki konumlarına dikkat çekilmelidir. Bu çalışmada koruyucu aile modelinin önemli bir parçası olan biyolojik ailelerle çocuğun korunma altına alındıktan sonra ailesiyle görüşme süreci ve uygun koşullar sağlandığında biyolojik ailesine dönme sürecinin detayları ve yapılması gereken çalışmalara ilişkin bir değerlendirmede bulunulmuştur.
