Year 2021, , 1079 - 1102, 30.07.2021
https://doi.org/10.33417/tsh.801029

Abstract

Year 2021, , 1079 - 1102, 30.07.2021
https://doi.org/10.33417/tsh.801029

Abstract

Social workers are in a very important and unique position because of their potential to help promote disease prevention efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic and eliminate the concerns raised as a result of this public health crisis. In the field of social work, it is seen that many studies have started to be carried out on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on public welfare. In this process, it is thought that focusing on the relationship between public health and social work disciplines and the benefits that this relationship can provide to the pandemic process may be beneficial in the context of local literature. Thus, the aim of the study is to provide suggestions about the duties that social workers can undertake at different levels and the services they can offer during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In order to achieve this aim, under the first main title "Public Health and Social Work Relationship", the subtitle "Public Health Social Work" is explained comprising the social epidemiology, social planning, social marketing and community organizational development concepts. "Occupational Standards and Roles in Public Health Social Work" was included as the second subtitle. Later, the roles and duties of social workers in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic were discussed under the main title "Duties of Social Workers during the COVID-19 Pandemic". Finally, in line with the data conveyed throughout the study, under the main title "Results", suggestions on how the field of public health social work can form an information and ethical infrastructure for the response of social workers to this public health crisis were included.
