Critical thinking in education is a very important concept as it is in the social work profession. In addition to critical thinking skills, conscious awareness has also emerged in the forefront in recent years. It is believed that it is important to increase the level of critical thinking skills as well as the level of awareness of social work students as they are going to come across with various client systems in practice and in their professional life. This study aims to investigate the relationship between critical thinking tendency and mindfulness of social work students from different perspectives. The population of the study consists of all social work students in the province of Konya during 2014-2015 academic year. The population of the study consists of 578 students. 510 of the total data were found to be suitable for evaluation. The study has a descriptive nature and utilizes the quantitative research pattern. The data, obtained with face-to-face survey method, was analysed using SPSS 20.0 and then interpreted. It was found that there was a significant relationship between “critical thinking tendency” and “mindfulness” of social work students in favour of mindfulness (Average Critical Thinking score was 2.80 and Average Mindfulness score was 4.15). There was a significant difference between critical thinking levels of social work students and variables of gender, university attended, academic success, and grade. It is observed that awareness of social worker students was higher compared to their level of critical thinking skills. In this context, it is proposed to develop a critical point of view, to make analyses and evaluations, and to emphasize more objective and critical consideration in social work education.
