Psychometric Evaluation of the Quality of Life Instrument

Abstract

In recent years, the assesments of the quality of life have been widely used in the process of monitoring quality of care and improving services for people with severe mental illness. The purpose of this study is to determine psychometric properties of the “Quality of Life Instrument” has was developed by School of Social Work, University of Wisconsin, which has been defined subjective dimension of life quality. The instrument is a Likert type self-administered scale that has 24 items including “living situation”,, “finances”, “leisure”, “family relations”, “social life”, “health” and “Access to health care”. The construct validity and reliabilty of the instrument were tested on 120 clients with serious mental illness who were receiving mental health services from outpatient units. The QOL Insturment has been shown to have good construct validity and is considered reliable.

YAŞAM KALİTESİ ÖLÇEĞİNİN PSİKOMETRİK DEĞERLENDİRMESİ

Abstract

Son yıllarda yaşam kalitesi değerlendirilmeleri, ağır ruhsal bozukluklar alanında hastaların bakım kalitesini izlenmesi ve uygun hizmetlerin geliştirilmesi açısından yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, ağır ruhsal bozukluğu olan ve toplum içinde yaşayan kişilerin öznel yaşam kalitesini belirleyeni Wisconsin Üniversitesi Sosyal Hizmet Okulu tarafından geliştirilen bir Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeğinin Türk örneklemi üzerinde psikometrik değerlendirmesini yapmaktır. Ölçek, “yaşam koşulları”, “maddi durum”, “boş zamanı değerlendirme”, “aile ilişkileri”, “sosyal yaşam”, “sağlık durumu” ve “sağlık hizmetlerine ulaşılabilirlik” boyutlarını içeren, müracaatçı tarafından doldurulan 24 maddelik Likert tipi bir araçtır. Ölçeğin yapı geçerliği ve güvenirlik çalışması, ağır ruhsal bozukluk tanısı almış ve ayaktan tedavi hizmeti alan 120 müracaatçı üzerinde test edilmiştir. Çalışmada, ölçeğin yeterli bir yapı geçerliği ve güvenirlik düzeyine sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir.
