A General View on the Models Providing Service to the Mentally Retarded Children and Their Families

Abstract

İn this study, in formation about the serv­ice models constituted in order to support, to give direction to the mentally re­tarded and their families in a way that involves the whole family system, and to obtain the training of qualified specialists is given. Particularly, “ The Child, Adolescent and Family Support Network Model” is here examined in detail because of its being a good example on how training and practice will be operated with the cooperative studies of civil initiatives and the universities. Understanding the functioning of such models may illuminate to those specialists who study with the mentally retarded and their families in the services they offer.

Abstract

Bu çalışmada zihinsel engelli çocuklar ve ailelerinitüm aile sistemi içine alacak şekilde desteklemek, yönlendirmek ve nitelikli elemanların yetiştirilmesini sağ­lamak amacıyla Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’nde oluşturulan hizmet modelleri hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Özellikle “Ço­cuk, Ergen ve Aile Destek Ağı" Modeli, gönüllü kuruluşların ve üniversitelerin birlikte çalışarak eğitim ve uygulamanın nasıl yapılacağı konusunda iyi bir örnek teşkil etmesi nedeniyle ayrıntılı olarak ele alınmıştır. Bu tür modellerin çalışma sistemlerini bilmek, zihinsel engelli ço­cuklar ve aileleriyle çalışan uzmanlara sunacakları hizmetlerde ışık tutacaktır.
