Abstract

This article discusses the content of the case management approach and its use in the social work profession. Case management is an integrative approach used by many branches of science at both the individual and community level. Holistic solutions with a holistic perspective are required especially in the solution of increasing psycho-social problems. For this reason, for the solution of a problem, it is necessary to act jointly with the practitioners of different branches of science.
The fact that social work has an eclectic-based scientific basis and requires close working with other professionals in the implementation process has made it necessary to use case management. The case management approach, which is needed especially with medical social services in the field of health, has become a popular approach that is frequently used in many other fields over the years.
Case management is mainly used to provide solutions to the complex needs of clients. In this context, it is necessary that social workers are well equipped in the implementation of the case management approach in order to provide effective results.
Case management is a very popular approach but is limited in the social work literature. The main purpose in the design of the study is to enable the case management to be more comprehensible by addressing it in detail in the light of current sources. Within the scope of the study, the historical features, definition, content, objectives, stages and principles of case management are discussed, the role and functions of the case manager and the use of case management in social work are discussed.
