Development of Quality Education Literacy Scale for Sustainable Development

Abstract

This study is a This study aimed to develop a valid and reliable scale to measure qualified educational literacy for sustainable development. Data were collected from 355 teachers working at various educational levels in Turkey. The scale development process began with a comprehensive literature review on sustainable development and qualified educational literacy, followed by the identification of factors to be measured based on the key components outlined by UNESCO for qualified educational literacy. These factors were defined in relation to educational programs, teacher competencies, and sustainable development goals. The content of the scale was designed to reflect the core elements of the educational process, with appropriate items developed for each factor. During the scale development process, validity and reliability analyses were conducted. The results of these analyses revealed that the scale for qualified educational literacy for sustainable development is valid, reliable, and useful. The scale consists of 41 items and three dimensions. Using this developed scale, teachers' levels of qualified educational literacy for sustainable development can be measured.
